Technology to protect you from the elements

The secret of DynaPel’s™ performance starts with its advanced, OEKO-TEX® ECO Passport certified chemistry. GTT’s EMPEL® specialized formulation is extremely hydrophobic to moisture, preventing the adhesion of water molecules.
Once it is applied to the surface of a zipper tape, DynaPel’s™ unique production process drives the chemistry deep into the yarn structure creating a molecular bond encapsulating the entire yarn with a water repellent layer. This chemical crosslinking is extremely robust giving the water repellent layer enhanced durability to both surface abrasion and laundering⁴.

What gives DynaPel it’s amazing performance

DynaPel’s ™ unique production process enables its advance green chemistry to penetrate and encapsulate the individual yarns. The water free chemistry is applied uniformly to the zipper tape. The zippers are then placed under pressure to drive the chemistry deep into the yarns of the tape. Heat is then applied to kick off  the chemical cross linking and molecularly bond the chemistry to the yarns.

Tested to ensure its performance

DynaPel’s™ water repellency has been rigorously tested to ensure that it meets the standards and expectations of customers. In addition to standard lab testing, it has undergone demanding rain room testing as well as real world field trials.

Circular systems-sorting clothes

Compatible with Circular Systems⁵

Designed to be compatible with garment recycling systems, DynaPel™ uses EMPEL® technology instead of the standard PU film to achieve its water repellency. The lack of a PU film helps remove one of the barriers in textile-to-textile recycling for performance apparel by eliminating the urethane material, which presents challenges to garment recycling processes.

The Earth

Easier on the Planet

DynaPel™ also has a lower environmental footprint⁶ than conventional water repellent zippers, due to its NATULON recycled tape and lack of PU film. The materials and chemistry used in DynaPel™ contribute less to GHG emissions, energy and water usage than those used in conventional water repellent zippers.
